Your Child’s First Visit
We recommend establishing a dental home for your child by their first birthday or when their first tooth erupts. We’ll set a benchmark for your little one’s oral health that we can reference as they grow up. By having a go-to dental home for your child, they can receive consistent care from familiar faces. At their first visit, we’ll take the time to get to know you and your child to get a better understanding of their personality and any concerns you may have with their oral health. Our goal is to help your child start on the right path towards a lifetime of happy, healthy smiles!
At-Home Tips for Brushing & Flossing
As parents themselves, Dr. Jenkins and Dr. Zander know firsthand just how difficult it can be to fit brushing and flossing into an already hectic nighttime and morning routine. To help your little one’ oral hygiene routine go smoothly, we recommend that you:
Kids and adults should brush their teeth for two minutes, twice a day. To ensure that they’re brushing long enough, throw a two-minute dance party that will help the time fly by.
It can be difficult to get kids to brush twice a day and floss daily. Try implementing a reward system like stickers on a calendar. This will help them get excited about it instead of dreading it.
There are a wide variety of yummy-flavored floss products and toothpaste that kids love! If they’re not a fan of traditional mint, try getting them a fun flavor like bubble gum or cherry.
Another great motivator is letting your child pick out their own toothbrush. There are a plethora of brushes with cute characters and fun patterns on them. Some even play music and light up!
